"Balancing savings and effective management of troublesome weed species will be a major challenge with these novel precision application systems," says Rodrigo Werle, associate professor and extension cropping systems weed scientist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The Arthaud family has been farming its land, located in the Panhandle region of Oklahoma, for more than a century. They adopted the Greeneye system to extend the benefits of precision spraying to green-on-green applications, and to continue to suppress increasingly resistant weeds while remaining no-till.

World dryland corn record holder Russell Hedrick says doing his own agronomy work and "a lot of field walking" has been some of his best return on investment for his Hickory, N.C., operation.
