Syngenta Crop Protection and Halex GT corn herbicide are Weeding Out Hunger at the 2010 National No-Tillage Conference in Des Moines from Jan. 13 to 16.

National No-Tillage Conference attendees will have the opportunity to donate nonperishable food items at the Syngenta booth during the 18th annual event at the Marriott in downtown Des Moines. Items will be donated to the Food Bank of Iowa in Des Moines.

Attendees who donate items will be entered to win a monetary donation in their name to the Feeding America food bank nearest them. Food items needed include cold cereal, canned meat, peanut butter, 100% fruit juice, boxed meals and other non-perishable food items.

“This is a great way for our farmers who have been blessed with the ability to grow food to give back to others,” says Darrell Bruggink, executive editor and publisher of No-Till Farmer, the organizers of the National No-Tillage Conference. “We’re excited that Syngenta has undertaken this effort with our attendees. While the ag industry has been relatively stable, the need has never been greater to help others who have been less fortunate.”

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, more than 49 million Americans have limited access to adequate food due to a lack of money or other resources.
