40-Year-Old Conservation Tillage Information Center Gave Unified Voice for No-Till

An idea for a simple no-till ‘club’ grew into a private-public clearinghouse that influenced hearts & minds on the practice.
The 2022 farm season has several important no-till milestones — no-till’s first commercial plot (60 years), No-Till Farmer (50) and National No-Tillage Conference (30). We’ll add a fourth jewel to the “no-till crown” with the 40th anniversary of a public-private partnership, the Conservation Tillage Information Center (CTIC). The No-Till History series is made possible by Calmer Corn Heads.

Mike Lessiter Presents Luncheon Keynote at 2025 NACD Summer Meeting

No-Till Farmer's Mike Lessiter spoke at the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD)'s 2025 Summer Conservation Forum & Tours on July 28, 2025 in Milwaukee, Wis. During the Luncheon Keynote Presentation, Lessiter spoke on the key elements of no-till history and why it’s a blueprint for future change. He also examined critical success factors needed to sustain and grow the practices, and the key role of conservation districts in making successful transitions and adoption a reality.
