Gianluca Abbati, vice president technology & innovation stated performance comparison tests showed the new Trelleborg TM1 ECO POWER tire delivers 47% lower rolling resistance, 26% greater traction on hard soil and 12% extra operator comfort.

One of two SIMA Gold Medal recipients, Trelleborg launched its VIP (variable inflation pressure) tire system, capable of automatically increasing and reducing pressure based on load weight. The system, initially tested in Fendt combines, features a compressor and enclosed sensing control unit in the axle that adjusts tire inflation to reduce compaction by about 10% and increase crop yield by about 5%, according to Lorenzo Ciferri, marketing director for Trelleborg. The system is still in the prototype stage and being field-tested on wheat, Ciferri says.

Trelleborg is to open its first North American manufacturing facility dedicated to the manufacture of premium radial tires for agricultural machinery.

Trelleborg has received the Machine of the Year Award 2014 for its new ProgressiveTraction technology. The ceremony was held at the leading agricultural exhibition, AGRITECHNICA 2013, in Hannover, Germany on Nov. 12, 2013.
