The dynamic duo of Chris Perkins (Otwell, Ind., Strip-Till Innovator, Banded Ag) and Chris Kasten (soil test data analyst, Agrimodis) will take the general session stage at the 2026 National Strip-Tillage Conference, Aug. 6 in Springfield, Ill. In the days leading up to their presentation, Kasten will be asking some questions on his X account (@ChrisK_Banded). Here's his first question:

How many pounds of nitrogen do corn plants use to make one bushel of corn? If you use the 10-bushel per 1,000 plants ratio, then it takes roughly 100 plants to make a bushel. How much nitrogen do those 100 plants need?
