Precision Planting announced June 23 a commitment to build a new 500,000-square-foot operations center in Morton, Ill., according to a company press release.
The company has been in the area for 29 years and manufactures precision ag technologies.
The company, which creates a variety of products farmers install on their existing equipment for data collection of their equipment has been headquartered in nearby Tremont, Ill., since 1993.
"We are choosing to stay in Morton because of our committed employee's proximity to Tremont headquarters, and access to the interstate,” says Precision finance director Keith Crow.”
"It's been a privilege to work with Precision Planting during the planning process for the development of this new facility in Morton at the crossroads of Interstates 74 and 155," says Morton Mayor Jeff Kaufman. "This new operations facility will help sustain the quality of life in Morton with new and retained jobs and new property taxes that are vital for our community.”
The facility will be located at the north end of Erie Avenue, south of the exit ramp from I-74 East to I-155 South.
Ryan Companies US, Inc., a national commercial real estate company, is expected to develop the project and begin construction in July 2022. The building is scheduled to begin operations in November 2023.
This location will more than double Precision Planting's operations square footage and also allows for future expansion of the facility as needed.
Precision Planting's other area facilities include a headquarters south of Tremont, a software development facility in Bloomington, and a 400-acre research farm, the Precision Technology Institute, in Pontiac.
