This free soil health field day with NRCS soil health specialist Ray Archuleta will take place on Aug. 28 at the Almena Community Center.
Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. and the event kicks off at 9 a.m. with a rainfall simulator. Soil pits and field visits will take place from 9:30 to noon, followed with lunch provided by Almena State Bank. Archuleta will give a soil health presentation in the afternoon, followed with a discussion on grazing diverse forages in western Kansas. There will also be a 1-hour session on understanding the Haney soil test, and the event wraps up after a farmer panel.
