Just a few quick-hitting items I'd like to share with you this week.

  • We enjoyed having no-tiller and philanthropist Howard Buffett speak at the 2010 National No-Tillage Conference (NNTC). Turns out our venue in Des Moines was pivotal for Howard's son, Howard Warren Buffett, to reunite with Lili Thomas after they had initially met 18 months earlier at a fundraiser for Pres. Barack Obama. They are now engaged. Interestingly, this isn't the first-of-its-kind happening at the NNTC.
  • Even as we're finalizing the 2011 NNTC program, we'd like your help in selecting the week for the 2012 NNTC.
  • No-Till Farmer, along with Agro-Culture Liquid Fertilizers, is seeking nominations for the 3rd annual Responsible Nutrient Management Practitioners program. Self-nominations are accepted and three selected no-tillers will receive free transportation, lodging and registration for the 2011 NNTC.

With corn having crept above $5 per bushel, soybeans nearing $11 and wheat above $7, here's hoping that you get every last piece of grain out of the field this fall.
