Reetz, a No-Till Farmer Innovator in 2010, was seminal to integrating high technology into his research into no-till. He was also a past speaker at the National No-Tillage Conference.

The article, published in Anthropocene magazine, cites a study published in the journal "Geoderma," and set for release in the journal's November issue. The study has some issues. Perhaps because no-tillers are passionate and proud folks who take their preferred agricultural practices seriously, some of them are hopping mad.

Researchers found that a 1% increase in no-tillage adoption within a county can increase agricultural land value by $7.86 per acre across 12 Midwestern states covered by the OpTIS database: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Using data specific to Iowa they concluded 1% adoption of no-till at the county level increases farmland values $14.75 (and possibly more) per acre inside Iowa.

Comments will now be accepted until Oct. 7. They had been slated to close in September, according to EPA documents.
