Ever wonder how the EPA’s buffers/setbacks for pesticides impact you and what field demos have proved about spray drift? At the National No-Tillage Conference, you'll hear from Syngenta's 2 experts: Richard Brain and Daniel Perkins.

In this session, Brain and Perkins will describe how the U.S. EPA calculates buffers/ setbacks for pesticides under the Federal Insecticide Fungicide and Rodenticide Act and in compliance with the Endangered Species Act. Why is it problematic, and how could it impact farmers? Is a 100-1,000-foot buffer/setback workable/sustainable? Are these modeled distances realistic? Can we improve on the science? They'll address these questions and more via their studies ranging from state-of-the-art analytical and biological methods to their now well-known field demonstration involving a self-propelled sprayer, wedding dress and food coloring.

The 31st Annual National No-Tillage Conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis Arch Hotel & Conference Center from Jan. 10-13. A focused 4-day program covers myriad topics for profitable results in no-till farming, including equipment set-ups, cover crops, intercropping, economic analyses, soil testing/analysis, fertilizing methods and more.

Unique from other ag conferences is the mix of general sessions, classrooms and farmer-to farmer roundtables and face time with suppliers at the National No-Tillage Conference — all designed for maximum networking and the practical transfer of experience and knowledge. The lineup includes:

  • General Sessions — covering an abundance of proven no-tilling ideas and strategies. Among the national experts this year are Rob Saik, Ray Archuleta, Gregg Sauder, Marion Calmer, and many more!
  • Farmer-to-Farmer Roundtables — informal, moderated peer-to-peer discussions on specific no-till topics. Attendees should come with 5 questions to get answered in this proven format for sharing what works and doesn't.
  • Classrooms — in-depth presentation-style sessions convey practical, actionable ideas from experienced no-tillers on the most pressing needs.
  • This year's conference has a total of three pre-conference workshops to extend your no-till knowledge. How to Trim Fertilizer Costs Without Reducing Yields with Russell Hedrick and and Lance Gunderson, and Raising Every No-Till Acre, a special program by Yield Champions David Hula & Randy Dowdy. Each have limited seating and require an additional $129 fee to attend. And returning for 2023 are the No-Till Tech Talks: Innovative Product Solution Sessions. Moderated by Randall Reeder, a No-Till Innovator Alum, retired ag engineer at Ohio State University and leader of the Ohio Conservation Tillage Conference, these sessions will each feature top no-till solutions provider sharing information about their latest product advancements to help no-tillers succeed.

Title sponsors making the learning and networking opportunities possible for strip-tillers include Advancing Eco Agriculture, Ag Leader Technology, Dawn Equipment, Exapta Solutions, GS3 Quality Seed, Helm, Laforge Systems Inc., Martin Industries LLC., Midwest Bio-tech, Montag Manufacturing, Precision Planting, Sound Agriculture, The Andersons PureGrade, Wearparts Tillage Tools LLC, and Yetter. All 14 companies will exhibit during the 4-day educational event.
