USDA's crop progress report for the week ended Oct. 17 reported 97% of corn crops mature, in line with the same week last year.

USDA reported 52% of corn crops harvested, below the 57% reported harvested by this time in 2020. The 5-year average for corn harvested in this week is 41%.

Around 45% of corn crops were reported in "good" condition, with another 15% in "excellent" condition and 26% in "fair condition."

Some 95% of soybean crops were reportedly dropping leaves, below the 96% reported dropping leaves in the same week last year. The 5-year average for soybeans dropping leaves in this week was 95%.

USDA reported 60% of soybeans harvested in the week, below the 73% reported in the same week last year. The 5-year average for soybeans harvested is 55%.
