OpenSky herbicide has received registration from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, providing wheat and durum growers with broadleaf weed and grass control.

A new herbicide for wheat, OpenSky contains two active ingredients with two modes of action, reducing the likelihood of weed resistance.

“OpenSky will offer winter and spring wheat growers control of high-anxiety grasses, such as wild oats, yellow foxtail and cheatgrass,” says Joe Yenish, field scientist, Dow AgroSciences.

OpenSky combines weed control with crop safety and rotational freedom. A wide application window offers flexibility to adjust to unpredictable weather conditions. Apply 1 pint of OpenSky herbicide per acre to actively growing spring wheat from three-leaf stage until flag leaf emergence. For winter wheat, growers can apply 1-1.25 pints of OpenSky in the fall or spring from three-leaf stage until flag leaf emergence.

In addition, OpenSky is tank-mix compatible with fungicides, insecticides and several other broadleaf herbicides. Pending state registrations, OpenSky herbicide will be available for use in the 2018 crop season.
