BROOKFIELD, WIS. (May 23, 2017) — The American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) has honored No-Till Farmer with its top award for editorial excellence, naming the publication as the “Overall Newsletter of the Year” in the organization’s annual Azbees Awards recognition program.

The announcement was made during the awards luncheon at ASBPE’s National Conference May 17-18 at The Poynter Institute in St. Petersburg, Fla. Nearly 1,200 Azbee entries were submitted in 76 categories this year.

Published continuously for 45 years, No-Till Farmer was chosen for this honor after a peer review by journalists from the business community. ASPBE’s annual program recognizes the best work in business journalism, including major publishers of titles that include Automotive News, Bloomberg, Crain Communications, Hanley Wood, Investment News, Engineering News and more.

Before his panel presentation, Senior Editor John Dobberstein accepted the award at The Poynter Institute on behalf of No-Till Farmer, while Executive Editor/Publisher Darrell Bruggink, Editor Frank Lessiter, Managing Editor Laura Barrera and Contributing Editor Martha Mintz were also recognized during the ceremony for their contributions.

This best-in-newsletter publishing recognition builds on a reputation for quality content of which No-Till Farmer has been recognized during the last several years. The newsletter was also honored in 2012 and 2013 by ASBPE with Gold Awards for editorial excellence.

“It’s an incredible honor for the work of our editorial and production staffs to be recognized this way,” Bruggink says. “We’ve prided ourselves on attention to detail — both in our reporting and design work — in an effort to earn our readers’ trust, admiration and subscription investment. This award encourages us to keep working hard for our readers to deliver relevant, actionable content.”

Two of No-Till Farmer’s sister publications also took home awards last week in the national contest. Farm Equipment magazine won a bronze award in the Special Section category for its special report, “After the Ink Dries… The First 100 Days Post-Acquisition.” And Ag Equipment Intelligence’s “On the Record” won a bronze award for Best Webcast Series.

In ASBPE’s regional contests, Farm Equipment’s special “Dealership Minds” Edition of the magazine and “After the Ink Dries” entry also won Regional Bronze and Regional Gold awards, respectively. And a Farm Catalog article entitled “Case Studies: How Well Do You Understand Your Customers’ Challenges?” on the thought processes and planning behind important farm decisions, received the Regional Silver Award in the category of Print, Single Topic Coverage by a Team in the Upper Midwest.

No-Till Farmer, Farm Equipment, Farm Catalog and Ag Equipment Intelligence are owned and published by Brookfield, Wis.-based Lessiter Media.
