ENTERING uncharted waters this year as a virtual program, the 29th National No-Tillage Conference (NNTC) was still a major success online as it attracted hundreds of attendees from all over North America and internationally who wanted to learn how to boost their no-till knowledge.
After it was decided in November that the event would be held online instead of live in Indianapolis, No-Till Farmer organized and executed a streamlined program that still included more than two-dozen general sessions and classrooms over 4 days.
Some 15 roundtables were also held virtually on a variety of topics to give attendees a chance to address specific challenges on their farms and interact with others.
Hallway networking is a major benefit of NNTC. But even without a live event, attendees still flocked to “meet and greets” on the Whova app used to host the conference.
These networking sessions covered no-tilling in the future, small-acreage farms, best takeaways from the conference, planting green and soil health. “Happy hours” were even organized each evening by West Union, Iowa, no-tiller Loran Steinlage to “shoot the bull” and talk about the day’s highlights.
