Dan Towery has a long history with cover crops, including his time as advisor to the Oregon Ryegrass Commission and as a consultant through his own company, Ag Conservation Solutions.

In this presentation, Towery explains how soil resilience or soil health can potentially provide 5-7 additional inches of moisture in a dry year, nearly eliminate run-off and require significantly less commercial nitrogen. However, he does say it takes time and a plan to see the benefits.
