David Wolfskill believes the genetics are available today to raise 400-bushel corn. The Wernersville, Pa., no-tiller says how close you get to that yield goal has much to do with controlling the things that you can control.
In this presentation, Wolfskill takes you on a 360-degree tour of his farm that produced 308-bushel corn in the 2012 NCGA national yield contest. He reviews no-till planter and equipment setups, micronutrient and in-furrow fertility programs, seed selection, stress reduction, the need to eliminate seed spacing variability and more. He shows you how to pick up 20 bushels by correcting the big negatives and what you might micromanage once you’ve removed the most critical items obstructing high yields.
