While Bt hybrids have been highly effective managing Western corn rootworm for the past decade, resistance has developed within pockets of the Corn Belt. Christian Krupke says no-tillers can learn valuable lessons from patterns and trends linking these resistance hot spots in an effort to prolong this helpful technology.
The Purdue University entomologist will share his observations as to how no-tillers can avoid resistance from gaining a foothold and ways to improve control of corn rootworm. He will also outline the future of genetically modified corn hybrids that target this most damaging pest of corn and how new technologies will fit with current approaches.
