A broad spectrum herbicide that effectively controls grasses such as foxtails, johnsongrass and shattercane in no-tilled corn was introduced just in time for the 2003 growing season by Bayer CropScience. Featuring recent U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approval, the herbicide will control broadleaf weeds such as cocklebur, lambsquarters, morningglory, ragweed, sunflower and velvetleaf.
“Equip is a herbicide that provides the most complete weed control of any conventional post-emergence herbicide for corn, resulting in cleaner fields with less effort,” says Greg Perrigo, Equip marketing manager.
One of the active ingredients is foramsulfuron, which is the same active ingredient found in Option corn herbicide. However, Equip also contains iodosulfuron, a new proprietary herbicide for broadleaf control that offers targeted residual control of small-seeded broadleaf weeds such as lambsquarters, pigweed and smartweed.
The preferred adjuvant system with Equip is MSO plus 28 to 32 percent UAN to provide additional residual grass control. A unique safener allows tankmixing Equip with herbicides such as Marksman.
