A System Approach To Reaching ‘300-100’ No-Till Yields (NNTC 2010 Presentation)- MP3 Download
Regardless of the yields your no-till fields are producing, Keith Schlapkohl says you may only be reaching two-thirds of the potential.
The Stockton, Iowa, no-tiller encourages farmers averaging 200-bushel corn yields on reasonably good soils to aim for 300 bushels per acre, and to strive for soybean yields of 100 bushels per acre.
Schlapkohl will identify the critical practices that allow him to grow a bushel of corn with only 0.25 to 0.55 pounds of applied nitrogen. He’ll identify other critical fertility practices and how soil testing helps him zero in on a plant’s needs during the most critical growth stages. The eastern Iowa no-tiller will also outline practices he’s implemented to improve no-till soil health and increase efficiency with fewer inputs.
