I have some acres not covered by fall strip-till that I intend to do this spring. Can I put down 120#N as dry urea without hurting the corn or should I forget the urea and sidedress anhydrous. Liquid is out of the question because of price and availability.

....the row with a spring strip-till operation. 160#'s, part of it as DAP & the the majority of it was 32% with a double tube mole. I saw a lot of root burn problems the last year I did this which was '99 and this is why I switched back to sidedressing the 32%. '99 was a pretty dry summer for the most part here, then we had a lot of rain & wind in late Aug. and most of my corn blew down. We had seen some problems for a few years but is was never all that bad and even in '99 the corn yielded real well but, picking all that down corn was enough for me. It may work different for you though.

joe,, i dont know about the N burning,, but i do know you shouldnt run a mole knife in the spring,, puts a lot of air in the row,, corn needs good seed to soil contact.. might have been more going on in the row than the N factor.....
