I planted about 50 acres of no-till milo and 50 acres of tilled milo this year. The ground I worked has an excellent stand. The no-till has spots with a good stand and spots with virtually no milo. Some poor stand areas are low ground, and some are high, some wet areas and some dry. There is no real pattern to tell me it was too dry or wet. We used a Great Plains grain drill on all ground tilled and no-till.

this is the first year for us to plant milo in several years. we had some ruts last fall and conventionally tilled some of the milo, while most was in 1 up to 30 year no-till fields. we did replant some, due to heavy rainfall within 6 hours of planting, but 95% of the milo has an excellant stand. we were trying to seed 75000 / acre, but sometimes got as high as 88000 / acre, due in part to those extra large seeds******ha******ha****** i checked all milo fields today and am very pleased with the stand, growth, and shading of our 30"row milo should have told you earlier that i am in west TN and i am trying to find the yield potential of milo while staying profitable (in other words we have a lot of groceries under the sorghum fields)
