corn herbicide program impacting cover crop

I've been using Lexar in my corn and have had great success keeping the corn clean. However I've not be able to establish a good cover into it for the past three years. Reading the label again today small grains are not advised until the following Spring. I usually follow corn with cereal rye. Any suggestions from folks on a good corn herbicide program that does not impact a fall cover crop? I prefer a one pass program as I don't always use RR corn.
