We can purchase Glyfos X-Tra for about $10.00/gal. cheaper than Roundup Ultra. Both products already have surfactant added and are labeled for both corn and soybeans. From our research there appears to be no difference in the products in terms of rates, rainfast and etc. However, I personally do not no anyone who has ever used the Glyfos X-Tra product. It is manufatured by a company named Cheminova of which I no nothing about either. I would like to hear from someone who actually has some experience with Glyfos X-Tra and Cheminova. It would be a big help to cut our herbicide input cost by about a third, but certainly would not want to give up any preformance either. Thanks in advance for your comments.

Yes, Warren the Griffin Glyphosate looks to be the same product as the Glyfos X-Tra without the surfactant. Not that the surfactant is a big deal to add yourself. But the Glyfos X-Tra happens to be the only one available to me at this time. I am 99% sure it is a good product and I really.... like the price savings. I just would be a lot more comfortable if someone would care to comment on their hands on experience with Glyfos X-Tra. Thanks for your reply though it does give me a little more faith in the generic Glyphosate products of which I can now count 12 on the market.

Several guys around here have been using the Glyfos + product with the surfactant. They have not noticed any difference on burndown or over the top on Soybeans. I bought a sprayer this year and several of us are going together to buy our chemicals and that is what we are buying. $19.50/gallon in 30 gallon drums. Thats half price of Ultra max figuring full qt for glyfos+ and 26 oz on the ultra max. I can make two passes over my beans for what one ultra max trip costs.

I used Glyphos xtra and had good luck. The only thing is there probably isn't any company backing if something goes wrong, but at the price that's not a big issue. Last summer the new formulation of Touchdown got to be the same price as the Glyphos, so I went that way on burndown on wheat stubble. I do like the stickiness of the Touchdown and think it works a little faster. Something to keep in mind for spring burndown.

Daren what part of the country do you live in? Here in NE In. 27.65 gal. is the only price thatI,ve been able to get, seems no one wants to sell the generic brands around here. The story seems to be the same with everyone I call that they will have a price"next week" it took me 3wks. to get the one price that I have from the dealer that my brother and I do most of our bus. with. I get the impression that Monsanto is putting pressure on them not to carry anything but Roundup, just my opinion could be wrong.

Guys We use glyfos extra and have gotten along fine. One thing to watch is the quality of sticker that the company uses. There is no way to know what they are using. As prices keep coming down that is something we are going to have to watch. Rubbing alcohol is considered a sticker. When it comes to generic's I would prefer to put my own adjuvant in. Hope this helps. Robert
