Today I have read the following description of No-Till in one of the leading Hungarian agricultural papers called Practical Agroforum. I would like to know what you think of the statements listed in the corrsponding paragraph. It was written by a university professor.

. . . before our ancestors discovered that some tillage of the soil would accelerate the decomposition of organic materials in it, unlocking nutrients for crop useage. This was in the days before synthetic N fertilizers and widespread useage of other fertilizer materials. What no one knew was that it was plundering the soil's resources, and had many other harmful effects on the soil (compaction, making vulnerable to erosion, loss of moisture retaining capability, reduced numbers of beneficial organisms, etc.).

Millions of acres or hectares, if you wish, are being cropped using a no-tillage management system in North and South America, Australia, New Zealand and other countries around the world and this professor says it can't be done. Amazing. But not surprising, especially in Europe, when no-till and minimum tillage systems seem to be lagging behind for various reasons. I recommend that you check the Dakota Lakes web site and get in touch with Dr. Dwayne Beck. Dr. Beck is a professor/scientist who is one of the best advocates for no-till farming I have ever heard speak. I am sure he can refute all the scientific jargon that your pedantic professor is using to try to confuse the issue.
