Looking for grown growers that apply anhydrous with single disc openers rather than knives. I've read about some doing it with Exxactrics systems but was wondering if anyone else is doing it? What are you using to close slot? What opener are you using?

been doing it for 5+yrs, push nh3 hose to bottom of dry fert boot on ausherman single disk, use edge of gauge wheel to close slot, dont put P/K in with nh3--too hot, roots wont get it by 4/5 leaf stage when needed--use vert. dam system to even out flow (liq vrs. vapor)

Sounds great we have Ausherman single disc openers for dry P & K. You say you use edge of gauge wheel to close slot. Would you elaborate please? Also are you doing this on top of ridge? in fall? Where are you from?

Exactrix uses both Yetter and Bourgault openers but I think they favor the Bourgault coulter opener. Bourgault recommends a closing wheel when using regular NH3 with their opener. Exactrix claims they don't have a evaporation problem like the normal NH3 systems because they are injecting liquid under high pressure. Here is a link that shows the Bourgault fertilizer opener.

I've talked with Exactrics before and they did say they liked your opener better. I went to your web site...I couldn't find a close of your opner. Would you e-mail me one?

I agree entirely! I wish Exactrix and others would use realistic pricing in view of $1.70 corn and $4.00 beans. Best thing is simply do without or build yourself.

SC N.Dak, system does work, but are some pro/cons: units are generally a high maintainence item--would prefer to mount a "mole" type short shank to inject--havent yet found a short enough tripable (rocks) shank, also have to be careful the lift of the single blade is not lifting your gauge wheel and moveing seed placement up--see gauge wheel "rocker" kits in shoup etc to limit: seem to havelisted many cons__but it has been working for me here< like anything else adapt idea to your needs>>>>>

We tried an Exactrix with the inventor present. Tried single-disc openers. Didn't work. Poor for sidedressing, bleeds on the ends of the field. Put a lot of effort in it, got disappointing results, wouldn't buy one.

JD single disk will work, I saw some in Iowa with a drag chain and they seal well with minimum disturbance.
